Our Mission
We believe that every child has the right and the potential to succeed. We work to help children achieve success by building strong foundations in education.
What We Do
Math Magic provides an after-school math enrichment program for elementary students at East Palo Alto Charter School. We bring together Stanford students, parents, and teachers to help kids learn essential math skills and develop positive attitudes toward learning.

East Palo Alto
Despite its name, East Palo Alto is actually directly north of Palo Alto and is a separate city. East Palo Alto is ethnically diverse, with large Latino and African-American populations, as well as a significant Pacific Islander minority. Despite much progress since the 1980s and early 1990s, disparities in educational opportunity persist along socioeconomic and ethnic lines. Only 18% of adults have a Bachelor's degree compared to 79% in Palo Alto, and the per capita income is $19,000 compared to $69,000 in Palo Alto (California average is $29,000). By the end of elementary school, children in East Palo Alto may already be several years behind their peers in high-income communities.

East Palo Alto Charter School
We have proudly partnered with East Palo Alto Charter School (EPACS) since the founding of Math Magic in 2006. EPACS is a K-8 charter school focused on preparing all students to attend college. In a school district where only about 35% of students are expected to graduate from high school, EPACS and its partners have demonstrated that all children can succeed with the right support.
Teach with us and be a part of this community partnership to positively impact deserving kids. |
